Alex Cave is an outstanding new talent with a fresh and original
style. He knew from childhood that he wanted to be an artist, and
often incorporated artwork into his lessons. On leaving school he
gained entry to the Royal College of Art, graduating with a BA in
Illustration in 1993, winning first prize, and an MA in Animation in
1995. His Royal College of Art film was purchased by Canal+, MTV
and the Edinburgh and Stuttgart Film Festivals.
After leaving college he initially worked in the video games
industry, creating 3D characters and animations for clients
including Lego, Kinder and The Tweenies. He has also worked as an
animator for BBC TV’s ‘Boo’ series.
In his spare time, however, he was developing a private
observational sketchbook, which led him to start evolving his own
style and designs for people and environments to paint. Alex
currently divides his time between producing animation for channel
5's children's tv and painting,
with figurative work as his main inspiration, in a London setting.
Alex's uniquely fresh, animation-influenced, pixellated style is
creating high interest and acclaim. Enid Lawson Gallery is
delighted to be bringing him to market. |
