Jane Bristowe grew up in Woking,
Surrey. She went to life-drawing classes for 8 years to learn the
skills of drawing and creativity but left about 10 years ago in
order to discover her own voice and style.
Jane marries a spontaneous use of line and a passion for
colour. She is inspired by her
everyday surroundings: birds, nature and human forms. The freshness
essential to Jane's work owes much to her mercurial style; speed
really is the essence.
In 2005, Jane went to Putney School of
Art to learn printing techniques and now, in addition to her work in pastels, Jane also produces etchings and
linocuts, discovering an expressive freedom and originality through
the creation of simple line drawings. One of her recent works has
been shortlisted for Wildlife Artist of the Year Competition 2008
Jane takes inspiration from the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist
painters including Klee, Matisse and Picasso. |
